	Most retailers are now promoting the '12 months free live services' with the TomTom 550, 750, 950 Live and TomTom XL Live models. Be aware that some stores may still be clearing old stock which isn't eligible for this offer, so our advice would be if it doesn't state free live services then buy from elsewhere. General Buying Advice

• Wondering what other people are buying? See our 'best sellers' list below.

• It's cheaper to buy maps when included with your TomTom than to add them later. Even if that camping trip to France is only a vaugue thought at the moment, it's worth paying an extra tenner for Western Europe maps - it costs £80 to upgrade at a later point.

• If you're a bit of a satnav novice, take advantage of the free 30 day support line at Comet. It may well be invaluable if you hit any problems or have any questions.

• Back in July, the TomTom ONE was discontinued and has now been replaced with the TomTom Start². The new functionality basically consists of the addition of 'Advanced Lane Guidance' and 'Text-to-speech', previously only available on higher end models. Take a look at our TomTom comparison table for further info.

• Similarly, the TomTom XL was also discontinued and replaced with the TomTom XL IQ Routes Edition². These new models offer the addition of 'Text-to-speech' over the standard IQ Routes models, and have a simplified menu similar to the TomTom Start.

• If you're buying a new TomTom model then you will always be able to download the latest map for free once you receive it. If you've had your TomTom a while it may be worth updating your maps to the latest version. See our maps page for details

• Although it sounds obvious, don't pay extra for features you won't use. E.g. If you've no intention of hooking up your mobile phone via bluetooth, and don't want to stream music or upload your pictures etc, consider the TomTom ONE range over the TomTom GO range.
